Professor Sir Keith Porter, a leading expert of Clinical Traumatology in the UK, has over the years been at the forefront of developing world-class treatment for injured military servicemen and women. His work included major tears, bone fractures, tendons, muscle and bone connections to trauma reconstruction. He is also the chair of the Annual International Trauma Conference.
Major traumatic injuries are not just limited to warzones but can also occur closer to home, such as RTA and the ongoing threat of terrorism. The First Aider on the scene holds an important position and the immediate action they take is paramount in determining the outcome of the casualty. The First Aider will also be required to use judgement to ensure that they do not endanger themselves or those around them. Increasingly First Aiders are required to become more skilled in dealing with workplace injuries. This is where the Trauma Care Conference stands alone in delivering presentations from prominent speakers covering leading edge knowledge and skills.
The First Aider Trauma Care Conference will be held on the 18th of March at the Yarnfield Park Conference Centre, Stone, Staffordshire ST15 0NL. Key note speakers include consultants with expertise in critical and pre-hospital care, security and community first responders. They will be delivering presentations and discussing topics including penthrox, first aid matters in shooting and stabbing incidents and first aid for the close protection officers to survival tips for the first aider when there are multiple casualties.
